February 2010 Beaded 3D Crystal Heart Project

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded project and other project. This month, I would like to feature the instruction on a beaded 3D Crystal Heart made with Swarovski Crystals, using right angle weave beading technique.

Beaded 3D Crystal Heart

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Beaded Crystal Heart

What you need:
1)  Crystal Bicones (use the size you prefer but all must be of the same size)
2)  Beading string (0.25mm).
3D Crystal Heart Tutorial
Step 1: Cut a piece of beaded string around 5 inches long.
  • Add four crystal bicones at the center of the string and crisscross through the last added crystal to form a crystal circle as shown.
Step 2: Continue to:
  • Add three crystal bicones on the bottom (black) string and crisscross the other top (red) string through the last added crystal bicone.
Step 3: Continue to:
  • Add two crystal bicones on the top (black) string and add one crystal bicone on the bottom (red) string.
  • Tie off.
  • Now cut a new piece of string double the length this time (10 inches) and make one more heart exactly but do not tie off or cut away excess. Also the last step instead of tie off, crisscross through the last crystal added just like step 2.
Step 4: Now stack the two hearts on top of each other. I have changed the color of the two pieces of heart so that you have a clearer view.
Step 5: The green crystal represents the first piece of heart you made. The brown crystal represents the second piece of heart you made.
The black dot represents where you stopped at for the second piece of heart and where the excess string exits from, also the starting point for this step onwards.
You will be adding a total of eight new crystals for joining the two hearts together.
  • Add one crystal bicone on the top (red) string, pass this same string back down one old crystal bicone from the first piece of heart that's in the mirror position.
Step 6: Continue to:
  • Add one crystal bicone and crisscross both strings through the new added crystal.
Continue to pass each side of the string down through the old beads from each heart as shown.
  • Now keep repeating this step until you go one round and back to where you added the first joining crystal in step 5.
Step 7: Tying off:
  • After you have added all eight crystals, pass the string through the first added crystal from step 5 and tie off.
  • Now you can add a hook or chain to wear it as a charm or earrings or pendant!
