 Flat Square Stitch Instruction

The beading instruction on flat square stitch is probably the easier square stitch to learn compared to the tubular square stitch.  In the square stitch, the beads sit directly above, below and beside each other beads, allowing straight vertical and horizontal rows.

Flat Square Stitch

Notes before you start: For beginners, start with size 11 cylinder seed beads.  The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.  You can use a string and needle or Nylon fishing line (0.22mm) without the needle.

String 1 bead and loop the line back through it (represented by the red line).

Add adding beads until you have the length of beads you require - there's no even or odd number constriction.

Row 2: Add one bead and string the line back through the bead directly above and back through the new added bead.  Keep on adding beads this way until you have reached the end of the row.
Repeat this for each row.
