April 2006 Beaded Crystal Bag Charm

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded project and other project. This month's project is a beaded crystal bag charm made with Crystals and glass beads using the Right Angle Weave technique.

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Beaded Crystal hand bag :

What you need:

1)    Crystal - 26pcs 4mm Red Crystals; 24pcs 3mm Pink Crystals.
2)    Glass seed beads size 11/0 (8 in red or pink and the rest silver white)
3)    Soft Beading wire or nylon beading string (25mm or 25 gauge)

Step 1: Remember to pull tight on every step.

Cut a piece of line around a meter long.

Add on four 4mm Crystals at the middle of the line, crisscross both ends of the lines through the last Crystal added.

Step 2: Continue the right angle weave by: adding one 4mm crystal on each lines and add one more to crisscross both lines through, repeat this 2 more times as shown in the picture.
Step 3: This step is similar to step 2 but the important thing is where the lines should exit for the next step beading.

Add three 4mm crystals to the left (black) line and cross the right (red) line through the last added crystal. Continue to pass the black line through the crystal on the bottom of the crisscrossing as shown in the picture where the black arrow comes out of.
Step 4: Continue from step 3:
On the top (red) line, add two 4mm crystals, cross the bottom (black) line though the last added crystal, pass the red line through the bottom crystal adjoining this crisscrossing as shown in the picture where the red line comes out of.
Step 5: Now you are to repeat step 3 three more times as shown in the picture, adding two 4mm crystals each time, crisscross, pass the line through the bottom crystal.

Then continue by passing the line pointing to the left (black) through the crystal on it's left as shown where the black arrow is coming out of - to prepare for the next step.
Step 6: Continue by adding two 4mm crystals on the right (red) line and crossing the left (black) line through the last added crystal.

Pull tightly and you should see a boat shape forming. Now you have the base of the beaded bag charm.
Step 7: Now to go a bit faster as you should have no problem with the right angle weave technique now.

The red circle dot is where you left off from step 6.
On the right (black) line, add three 3mm crystals, cross the left (red) line through the last added crystal, continue to pass the black line through the top adjoining 4mm crystal.
Repeat this all around the 4mm crystal bag base you created, until the last 3mm beaded circle which is also the last step of step 7, you have to pass the line through the 4mm crystal as usual and pass it further through the very first 3mm crystal added (as shown in the picture on the right side of the red dot), add one last 3mm crystal and crisscross both lines through this crystal.
Pull tightly and you will see the crystal bag charm forming.
Step 8: Next will be the glass seed beads.

The red circle dot is where you left off from step 7.
You are repeating step 7 exactly but with beads instead of the 3mm crystals, but remember to change the color of the seed beads (shown in dark blue) when you reached the center part of the bag on both sides so that you will be adding 6 different color seed beads and the rest will be same color.
Step 9: Continue to the glass seed beads.

The red circle dot is where you left off from step 8.
You are repeating step 8 exactly but remember to change the color of the seed beads (shown in dark blue) when you reached the center part of the bag on both sides so that you will be adding 2 different color seed beads and the rest will be same color.
Step 10: The handle:

The red circle dot is where you left off from step 9.
You will need to pass the bottom (red) line through all the top beads (a total of passing it through 8 beads), pass the top (black) line through the top beads (a total of 3 beads) as shown in the picture.
Pull tightly and tie a knot at the green dot.
String on 18 beads for the handle, and pass it back through the other end of the hand bag handle end (blue dot) tie off again and pass extra lines back through the piece in any sequence as this helps to secure the knot and strengthen your beaded bag.
