June 2006 Beaded Crystal Pendant

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded project and other project.  This month, I would like to feature the instruction on a beaded 3-D crystal pendant  that can be turned into an Ornament, pendant, earrings or charm.

Beaded Crystal Pendant

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Beaded Crystal Pendant

What you need:

1)    Crystal Bicones (8pcs 3mm red crystal)

2)    Silver white short bugle beads.
2)    Beading string (nylon or wire) 0.25mm

Step 1: Before you start, always remember to pull tight on every step.
Cut a piece of thread around a meter long.
Start from the right to the left.
Click on this link for instruction on this step if you have not done RAW before: Right Angle Weave
Then scroll down to follow the instruction that says:

Flat Right Angle Weave using double thread stringing method

Make a line of 11 squares and exit the lines as shown with blue and black arrows.
Step 2: Continue from where you left off:

String the blue line further through the next adjoining bead on it's right.
Add two beads on the black (left) line, cross the blue line through the last added bead.
Remember to loop the black line through the next adjoining bead on the right - as shown where the black arrow is coming out of.

Now you should see the ends standing up - that's how you make a 3-D figure with RAW.
Step 3: The red beads represents the new beads added on this step.

Continue from where you left off at step 2, add 2 beads at the line pointing downwards, cross the other end through the last added bead.
Continue to repeat this until you reached the last two beaded squares from step 1.
First loop the top blue line through 2 adjoining beads from step 1 (instead of the usual 1) and continue looping upwards and to the left 2 beads, as shown with the blue line arrow.
Add one bead on the bottom black line and loop this line back through the bottom bead of the very last bead square from step 1, then upwards and to the right as shown with the black arrow.

Get it? Now repeat exactly step 2 and 3 on the other side of the beaded squares made from step 1. (you have just finished the bottom side of the piece, now go to repeat step 2 and 3 on the top side of the piece).

Step 4: After you are finished with step 3, you should see a 3-D hollow tube.

Face the hollow section upwards facing you, start to add the crystal with the same lines or with a new line if it has run too short.

Make sure you loop the lines, one coming out of the top bead and one on the exact bottom bead, add one crystal, crisscross both lines into this crystal and loop the lines back through the next adjoining bead one to the top and one to the bottom.

Repeat this all the way and continue adding crystals on the way to the end, tie on a pendant hook at the end and there you have it.
