June 2006 Beaded Heart Brooch Project

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded project and other project. This month's project is a beaded Heart Brooch made with seed beads and Swarovski Crystals

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Beaded Heart Brooch :

What you need:

1)    Glass seed beads size 11/0 (Silver White)
2)    Crystal bicones (1 purple 5mm crystal, 6 pink 4mm crystals, 11 purple
       4mm crystals)
3)    Beading string or wire (25mm or 25 gauge)

Step 1: Always Remember to pull tight on EVERY STEP.

Cut a piece of line around a meter long.

Add 12 silver white seed beads at the middle of the wire (balance out both ends of the wire with the 2 beads at the center).
Crisscross both ends through the last two beads added.

Step 2: (First pictorial) Add 3 beads on each side of the string, add a pink 4mm crystal bicone and loop the line back though the two beads where you ended step 1 with.

(Second pictorial) continue to loop the line back through the small bead circle you just created - left black line exiting at the left bead shown where the black arrow comes out of, - right blue line looping all the way back and exiting on the same bead as the other line but continue to string the blue line through the bottom two beads from the big bead circle from step 1 as shown where the blue arrow is coming out from.

Step 3: Add 2 beads on the top line, add 3 beads on the bottom line and do the same thing by adding a pink 4mm crystal bicone and the whole looping process from step 2. (note the only difference from step 2 is the number of beads added on one of the line). Blue line has been changed to red color for the looping process for easier interpretation.
Step 4: Now repeat step 3 four more times until your lines you manage to achieve a flower shape like the picture, make sure the lines exit at the top two beads of the last bead circle as shown. (note the last bead circle should be add 2 beads on each line - before adding of the crystal - instead of 2 on one line and 3 on the other).
Step 5: Continue on the outer layer of the bead circles by doing exactly the same as step 2, add 3 beads on each line, add a 4mm purple crystal, loop the lines back the exact same way but in the opposite direction (before this you always work the line to exit to the left - clock wise, now you should work the line and exit to the right - anti clock wise).
Step 6: Repeat Similarly step 3, but just like step 5 in the anti clock wise direction.

When you are at the last bead circle before you reach the bottom, exit the lines at the bead marked with red line as shown in the picture.
Add 3 beads on the right line and 4 beads on the left line, then add the 4mm crystal as per normal and loop back by exiting at where the black arrow comes out of and remember to loop the blue line further up 3 more beads and exit as shown.

Step 5: Continue to repeat step 5 to form bead circle upwards, at the last bead circle on the top left, it will be like step 4. Tie off and get ready to tie on the brooch pin (tip: you can loop the lines back into the piece - with no fix sequence - to hide the excess threads and strengthen the piece).

For attaching of brooch pin, refer to step 10 of this instruction link: (Beaded Dragonfly Brooch)
