March 2007 Beaded Crystal Earring Project

You can find a variety of Free Arts and Craft Project here, including beaded project and other project. This month's project is a crystal beaded earring made with Japanese seed beads and Swarovski crystals using the Right Angle Weave technique (RAW). Great as a fashion accessory or as a jewelry gift.

The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.

Beaded Earring :

What you need:

1)    Glass seed beads size 11/0 (silver white)
2)    Swarovski Crystal bicones size 3mm or 4mm (22 pieces)
3)    Earring hooks and 4 jump rings.
4)    Beading string (0.25mm)

Always Remember to pull tight on EVERY STEP.

Step 1:
  • Cut a piece of beading string around 1 meter long.

Add a silver seed bead at the middle of the string (where the red dot is), remember to balance out both end of the string so that they are of the same length.

Continue to add one seed bead on each side of the string, one last bead on one of the string and use the other end to crisscross through this last added bead.
Step 2:
  • Continue to:
Repeat the second part of step 1 - add one seed bead on each side of the string, one bead on one of the string and use the other end to crisscross through this last added bead.

Repeat this until you are get 10 beaded circles as shown in the picture.
NOTE: for the last step (last beaded circle) add one bead on the left string and two beads on the right, cross the right string further through the bead added on the left string - shown where both arrows are coming out from.

Step 3:
  • On the top (red) string, add 3 beads, crisscross the opposite string (black) through the last added bead, pass the red string (the one you used to add 3 beads earlier) through one bead from step 2 (shown where the red arrow is coming out of).
Step 4:
  • Continue to repeat step 3 but with 2 beads and not 3 -
Add 2 beads to the left string, crisscross both strings, pass previous string through one bead from step 2.
Repeat until you have reached the last beaded circle on this line. For the last beaded circle here, add the 2 beads on the right string instead of the left and crisscross both strings through the left bead as shown where both arrows are coming out of.
Step 5:
  • Flip your piece vertically and repeat step 3 and step 4 exactly.
Step 6:
  • From where you left off:
Take the top red string, add one crystal, pass this string through the directly opposite bead on the extreme right, add one crystal, crisscross both string through this crystal.
Pass the left (red) string through the extreme left bead and right (black) string through the extreme right bead, add one crystal to crisscross both ends of the string. (repeat this until you reach the end of the piece
    ).
  • Tying - pass the string back through one of the beaded circle until the two ends of the string meet and tie a dead knot, after the knot do not cut off immediately, continue to pass the strings back through the piece a few more times before cutting away excess.
Step 7:
  • Take two jump rings, hoop each ring through each end of the piece you just made, hoop both jump rings through the earring loop and clamp tight all the rings.

TIP: the crystals should be facing down.

Repeat step 1 to 7 for the other side of the earrings.
