Make your own Coaster - Kid Art Project - July 2007

Here's a list of FREE kid Art and Science project, to help promote creativity and imagination with these arts and craft project and arts craft idea made from simple materials. This month July 2007 use transparencies and your creativity to create your own coasters!

Project of the Month (July)

Make your own coaster!

You will Need:
1)   2 pieces of transparency.
2)   Color papers, old wrapping papers, leaves etc.
3)   Iron (for ironing clothes)
4)   large piece of cotton cloth or newspaper.
Step 1:  I suggest you do this on an iron-able surface like an ironing board.

Take a piece of the transparency, use a cup or small bowl to trace and cut out two circles of the same size.

Start to spread small flat items like leaves or cut up color papers or cut up old wrappers or better yet small thin pieces of shredded crayons etc onto the transparency, make sure you leave a one centimeter border all around the piece of transparency - do not place any items on this border. (there's no need to add glue or adhesives of any kind)

Place the other piece of transparency carefully onto the decorated transparency, align them exactly and make sure they sit on top of each other exactly.

Place a piece of cloth or newspaper on top of the transparencies (make sure you cover the surface area completely) turn on the iron to low heat, iron on the newspaper or cloth that covers the transparencies for around 3 minutes.

Let it cool and remove from the ironing board. You can make a whole full set of them.
