Tubular Peyote Stitch Instruction

Notes before you start: For beginners, start with size 11 seed beads.  The pictorials are illustrated with spaces between beads for a clearer direction, in the actual beading, there should be no spaces.  You can use a string and needle or Nylon fishing line (0.25mm) without the needle.

Tubular Peyote works three dimensionally, you can use a removable like a cardboard paper tower tube or you can bead around objects like a gemstone, containers or glass bottles.  It can also be done without any support at all, so work with your imagination.

Step 1: String an even number of beads, you can measure around the object you are beading around.
Tie a knot at any point (tie loosely - leaving around 2 bead space) to form a circle, leaving one long end for continued beading.

String the longer end of the string back through the bead beside.
Step 2: Now pick up a bead, skip a bead from the first circle and cross the string back through the next bead, pick up another and do the same by skipping one bead and cross the string through the next bead from the circle.  Do this all around, end this row by passing the thread through the first bead added on this row.
Tips: While adding beads, pull to tighten so that the new bead added pushes the above bead up.
Step 3: Start on a new row the same way by picking up a bead and skip one bead and string through the next bead as shown.
By now you should get the momentum of the even count tubular peyote stitch.
If you still have problems start on
